Let’s get organised!

It’s September, and I don’t know about you, but I’ve been feeling the need to get organised. For those of you that follow astrology, we’re well into Virgo season now and Virgo is all about organising and focusing on our health. So don’t be surprised if this is what you’re feeling drawn to.

Getting organised often means looking for more storage to house our ‘stuff’. It can also look like a ‘good’ declutter- any of you feel drawn to that right now? I know I have. The space that I recently organised was my wardrobe.

So, in keeping with the “Let’s get organised” theme, I thought I’d share with you a few different storage ideas for different areas of your home. I think I’ve said this before, but we never hear- “I’ve too much storage!” do we? Rather it’s a case of “I’ve too much stuff!” or “I’ve not enough storage!”

But before we create that organised clutter free space, I would advise some sorting and/or decluttering. Why? Firstly, you may discover that you don’t need any additional storage, and that you do indeed have enough currently. Secondly, a good sort out creates a sense of rejuvenation, and it feels oh so good to finally let go of things no longer used or needed.

Over the next few weeks, I’ll be focussing on different storage to inspire you if you have decided that organising is something you’d like to do.

I always like to start at the entrance, so it’s the turn of the hallway.

Have a look at these different storage solutions for an entrance hall or landing. Which is your favourite? 🤩

Why have I chosen the above?

The Danetti Denver Dark Oak Console Table is another space saving console. I love it’s sleek compact stylish industrial look that is ideal for both storage and creates a statement if styled appropriately.

The Campden Hall Tree with Bench, Shoe Storage and a mirror form Wayfair is perhaps the most practical of all the others. It’s available in other colours too! I rather like the simplicity of this design and of course, It has plenty of space for shoes, coats and even a seat and mirror. So for me, perhaps the overall winner.

The Miho solid teak bookcase from Tikamoon is also a lovely space for storage. It’s sleek, clean lines are timeless. The 3 drawers would be useful near the front door. If using it as shoe storage, then I’d suggest some baskets. Pull them out and slip on your shoes. to keep those shoes out of eye sight. Unfortunately , not a space to keep coats, but nevertheless, a place to keep things organised and out of the way.

The Tikamoon Villa wall mounted console table is perfect for a small space, or a narrow wall. The fact that it is wall mounted adds to the illusion of space. Not really a piece to conceal shoes or coats but definitely a space to keep keys or gloves or even a scarf or two. Definitely a compact stylish piece of furniture which save space.

This is just the surface of hall storage, you could of course go bespoke and have your space measured to make the most of what you have. It just really depends on you, the space available and your needs. Perhaps, you don’t want your coats on show near the front door. I know that I don’t, for me it detracts from the simple organised look that I prefer, and more often than not, before you know it an entrance can become very cluttered looking. The same applies to shoes.

Below I’ve created a shopping board with other ideas and a few accessories that could be added to a hallway, to create the wow factor one feels when one steps inside. Something to make you feel happy to be home after a long day.

1. Shoe storage unit            2. Storage bench             3.  Hallway cupboard

4. Storage unit                     5.  Coat and shoe storage unit

Is it now time to have a look at your entrance and ask yourself, “How do I feel when I enter my home?” Is my hallway organised, and more importantly, does it bother me? As always, if you require any support and would like to talk through any ideas, please contact me for a chat.
